Gaia GPS is a multipurpose app that can be used for hiking, backpacking, hunting, off-roading, biking, boating, skiing, and more. Launched in 2019, OnX is relatively new to the navigation app scene.

Aug 24, 2023 · Here's how you can pre-download and access offline maps with the AllTrails app: In the AllTrails app, find the "Saved" icon. In "Saved," select the "Lists" tab. Select "My Maps" in the list. For the map (s) you wish to download for offline access, press the download icon on the bottom right corner of the map card.
If you're only using Gaia to follow, it doesn't matter. If you want a backup application to use in case Gaia craps out, you'll want a track of it for the other application. I tend to have 2 devices on my bike. A Carpe Iter tablet running drive mode dashboard 2 following the track, and my phone running Gaia showing the same track.
Another great feature of Gaia GPS is being able to download and save maps for use when offline. Find the area you’d like to download. Then go to the layers icon on the main screen and select a map source. Next tap the create icon (+) and select download maps. Once the blue dots appear, you can pinch and zoom to adjust the download box.
